Background and Company History:

The PowerRoots team has been actively engaged in U.S. Power Industry initiatives for more than ten years. With the introduction of a number of Open Access initiatives to support deregulation of the wholesale power markets, our team has continued to stay abreast of the corresponding requirements and standards that were changing the Power Industry landscape.

Our team has been directly involved with many power initiatives over the years including; the designs, development and implementation of one of the first successful OASIS Nodes for the Department of Energy. Our passion has been focused on solving technology challenges related to Power Operations for wholesale Transmission Providers. As such, our understanding and expertise to streamline processes and/or automate system operations have become our strengths, which have been leveraged over the years to better support our client's needs and competitive edge.

One of our primary concerns has been, and continues to be, reliability of the power system. As the Power Industry continues to change to better support a Smart World, competition continues to increase, and the need for managed and secure control of real-time Power Operations becomes increasingly critical for Transmission Providers.

PowerRoots Today:

Today, our focus is on the Smart Grid initiative, providing technical assistance to Transmission Providers in support of advancing that initiative for the U.S. Power Industry. Today, PowerRoots is actively involved in defining enterprise application and data frameworks to effectively support advancing Smart Grid interoperability standards and requirements. Our involvement with the Open Architecture Computing Enterprise (OACE) environment provides us with the technical infrastructure to help address the implementation challenges facing technology vendors of Smart Grid applications. OACE leverages state-of-the-art technologies that are available today to provide a flexible and extendable framework to support Smart Grid applications.

To help us reach our goals, PowerRoots has teamed with the SoftRoots Corporation to more effectively support the wide-variety of technical challenges that face today's Transmission Providers. In addition, successful realization of the Smart Grid initiative will require collaboration among many technology vendors. The PowerRoots/SoftRoots team will work together to advance the OACE enterprise framework to effectively support Smart Grid applications.
